FDA Safety Record (2025-2026)
Abbott FreeStyle Libre: In November 2025, Abbott recalled 3 million FreeStyle Libre 3 and Libre 3 Plus sensors after reports of false low readings. The FDA linked the defect to 7 deaths and 860 injuries. In February 2026, the FDA issued a warning letter to Abbott for failing to test finished sensors before shipping — a basic quality control failure.
Dexcom: In March 2025, the FDA issued a warning letter to Dexcom for making an unauthorized change to their sensor's glucose-limiting membrane coating. The changed sensors failed on all accuracy metrics. Two class-action lawsuits are pending (Wisnerbaum and Nigh Goldenberg).
Ultrahuman: No FDA actions (the M1 is not FDA-cleared for medical use — it's positioned as a "wellness" device in India, not a medical device).
